The Highfield Estate is on the opposite side of the wharfe valley from the famous Ilkley moor and rises to about 1,000ft. It has been a formal shoot for over 30 years.
The fully Keepered Estate consists of over 3,000 acres. There are 200 acres of mature woodland that has a forestry policy of sympathetic regeneration. Wild bird life is abundant with tree creepers, nuthatches, long tailed tits, woodpecker & more. Sheep are grazed on the remaining pastures and there are additional cover crops planted.
Wild Game Includes Pheasant, Partridge, Snipe, Woodcock and Duck with 3,000 Pheasant poults put to wood in July to Supplement our wild breeding birds.
A typical day starts at 9am where we will meet, at 9.15 the beaters will set off to the first drive and you will be escorted to your pegs.
After the third drive there is a 20-minute break and lunch can be arranged in our hunt cabin by prior arrangement after the last drive.
The quarry is mainly pheasant with some woodcock. Wounded game is speedily retrieved but if you do not have your own dog the beaters and picker-up dogs are always at hand.
